We also provide both microsuction AND irrigation (both if needed) to give you the best chance of full wax removal on the day. Not all wax is the same, nor are all customers. Upon arrival we will assess your wax and recommend accordingly - but also understand that some people have their preferences. We always try to accommodate requests if safe and practical to do so.

If all wax cannot be removed on the day we offer one return visit at NO CHARGE.

  • Is wax removal safe?

    Yes - if done by professionally trained ear wax removal experts as found at Happy Ears. Attempting to remove ear wax using a DIY approach can be dangerous. 

  • Do I need a GP referral for you to remove my ear wax?

    No. Although if you have already seen a  GP and know for sure that the issue with your ear is a wax build-up then this will give you peace of mind when booking with us. If we identify that there is not a wax issue but an underlying ear problem unrelated to a wax blockage we will let you know and not perform any precedure.

  • Do I need to do anything before booking an ear wax removal treatment?

    Yes - If you have been advised to have your ear wax removed we recommend applying an olive oil spray to the affected ear or ears. This is available form most pharmacies to loosen the ear wax and should be applied for at least 2 days before your appointment,  ideally 3-5 days, twice a day. This will minimise the need for a second appointment.

    We DO NOT recommend the use of sodium bicarbonate ear drops.

  • Which is the safest ear wax removal treatment in Nottingham?

    This will depend on the position and nature of the wax build-up. If accessible, manual removal of ear wax is the safest method but often this option is not possible due to the position of the wax in the ear canal and the canal shape too. Microsuction is then the next safest option.

    • Our West Bridgford clinic will provide ear wax removal for children aged 6 yrs+. 
    • The Woodthorpe clinic is 18 yrs+. 

    However, following consultation and examination of the ears, the clinician will decide whether or not it is safe and suitable if ear wax removal should be carried out or not based on individual circumstances.

  • Does Happy Ears - Ear Wax Removal Clinic accomodate wheelchair access?

    There are two small steps at the entrance to the clinic in Woodthorpe of 6 inches and 8 inches. 

    We have had wheelchair clients who can get through the doors  in a standard manual wheelchair. 

    The entrance width does not accomodate wider electric wheelchairs.

  • Can someone accompany me when having ear wax removal treatment?

    Due to the nature of the procedure we only allow one other person to accompany the patient in the clinic if their consent is given.
