Ear syringing or ear irrigation?
Warm water irrigation at Happy Ears.
Both use warm water to flush wax out of the ear. The difference is the equipment, and it matters.
Old-style syringing
Used a large metal syringe pressed by hand, so the water pressure could not be controlled. It is no longer considered safe under NICE guidance, and the NHS has stopped offering it.
Modern irrigation
The same principle, but the flow of warm water is controlled by a machine. It is gentle, consistent and works best on wax softened with olive oil. Ear irrigation at Happy Ears
Please do not try a home syringe kit. Michele uses irrigation, microsuction or manual removal, whichever suits your ears.
