Olive oil spray, drops, and what to avoid

Use: olive oil spray

Available from most pharmacies. A short spray at the entrance of the canal lets the oil work into the wax and soften it, so it comes away easily. Twice a day for three to five days before you come, and at least two.

Avoid: cotton buds and home kits

Buds, scoops and home syringe or camera kits tend to push wax further in, and can irritate the skin of the canal.

Michele does not recommend sodium bicarbonate drops.

Softening is all you need to do at home. The removal is Michele's job.

How to use olive oil spray: lying on your side, a spray at the entrance of the canal, then gentle massage in front of the ear.
